Support for those impacted by compulsive sexual behaviour

What is compulsive sexual behaviour? There are no formal diagnostic criteria for compulsive sexual behaviour, sometimes referred to as sex addiction.  It is characterised by excessive urges to have sex or engage in other sexual related behaviours, even when such actions may be detrimental to your physical health, emotional wellbeing and social standing.

It can be very difficult to deal with the devastating effect of discovering your partner has issues are sex or porn. You may have suspected your partner for years, or it may come as a complete shock.  If you would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Help with your relationships

Do you need help with your relationships?  Do you find it difficult to be open and honest with others about how you feel? Do you spend time questioning other people's actions and words?  Perhaps a part of you wants to blame the other person for everything, however, another part of you may believe everything is your fault.  Relationships are made up of more than one person, they can be complex.  We can often think we know what the other person is thinking and feeling, however, unless we are able to have open and honest conversations, we really do not know other peoples thoughts and feelings.  What we have is a script in our head that we believe to be true, however, our partner or friend may be thinking or feeling something very different.

Of course there are some things that are unacceptable and should never be tolerated, however, blaming others is not conducive to healthy relationships, overtime it leads to anger and resentment.  The key to good relationships is taking responsibility for our role in the situation and changing our behaviour.  Counselling and psychotherapy can help you to gain a better understanding of yourself which in turn will help you to improve your communication skills leading you to achieve better personal and professional relationships. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any additional information.
